Caring for your Briard
- Maintenance: it is recommended to brush this coat daily to avoid knotting, but it should be brushed a minimum of 3 times a week with a bath every 15 days.
- Haircut: This is a double-coated dog and should not be clipped as it naturally renews itself twice a year. They should be bathed and brushed frequently to prevent shedding at home. Only the top coat that reaches the ground should be trimmed with scissors.
- Special Attention: It is important to keep ontop of the hygiene of the eyes and ears to avoid infections. This coat can have the tendency to knot when kept longer so always check the coat through with a comb after brushing to catch any knots that may remain.
- Professional Grooming: This coat, especially if kept longer, should be professionally groomed every 8 weeks with a bath in between for maintenance. Regular grooming visits ensure the coat is kept in it's ideal state.
