Rottweiler Care

  • Maintenance: The Rottweiler has short, dense hair, so maintenance is moderate. Brushing is recommended 1 or 2 times per week to remove dead hair and maintain its natural shine. Bathing can be done every 4 to 8 weeks or when the dog is truly dirty.
  • Brushing and combing: It is recommended to use a rubber brush, massage glove, or natural bristle brush to remove loose hair and stimulate the skin. During shedding seasons, it’s a good idea to increase brushing frequency to control hair loss.
  • Hair trimming: The Rottweiler does not need haircuts. Its coat should be kept natural, limited only to removing dead hair during brushing and lightly tidying areas such as the paws if necessary.
  • Special attention: It’s important to regularly check the ears, keep facial wrinkles clean if any dirt appears, and monitor shedding during moulting seasons. It’s also advisable to watch the condition of the skin and keep the nails trimmed.
  • Recommended grooming appointments: Bath every 4 to 8 weeks and grooming or maintenance sessions every 6 to 8 weeks to manage shedding, general hygiene, and check nails and ears.

Do you want the best care for your Rottweiler?

We’ll show you the 3 steps you need to follow to achieve it.

1. BRUSHING AND COMBING

  • The Rottweiler’s coat is short, straight, and very dense, with a tough outer layer and a moderate undercoat.
  • To keep it in good condition, weekly brushing is enough using a rubber glove, a bristle brush, or a curry brush.
  • Brushing helps remove dead hair, distribute the skin’s natural oils, and keep the coat glossy.
  • During shedding seasons, especially spring and autumn, it’s best to brush 2 or 3 times per week to control hair loss.
