Grooming the American Staffordshire

  • Maintenance: Brushing with a rubber mitten once a week and monthly bathing is recommended.
Trim: Shorthair breeds should not be trimmed. A renewal of the coat by brushing with a rubber mitten, removing excess shedding coat and lightly grooming with scissors to accentuate the lines is sufficient.
Recommended grooming appointments: 1 monthly bath is sufficient to prevent excessive shedding.
Special attention: Elbow pads (use Dfender)

¿How is the American Staffordshire?

The American Staffordshire Terrier, also known as the Amstaff, is a breed of dog originating in the United States. This breed is known for its loyal and friendly personality, as well as its imposing and muscular appearance.

The Amstaff is a very intelligent dog and easy to train, but requires firm leadership and early socialisation to avoid behavioural problems. They are very loyal and protective of their human family and love to be close to their owners.

Despite their imposing appearance, American Staffordshire Terriers are known to be sweet and friendly dogs, especially with children. However, due to their strong protective instinct, it is important to teach them to differentiate between friends and strangers.

Overall, the American Staffordshire Terrier is an excellent choice for those looking for a loyal and protective companion for their family. However, it is important to keep in mind that this breed requires a responsible and committed owner who is willing to invest time and effort in training and socialisation.
