Caring for your Yorkshire Terrier

  • Maintenance: It is recommended to brush this coat daily to avoid knotting, but it should be brushed a minimum of 3 times a week with a bath every 15 days.
Haircut: This is a long haired breed, there should be a discernable parting down it's back and the coat should be long all around the sides. The fringe is brushed out of the eyes and secured in a topknot with a bow.
Special Attention: It is important to keep ontop of the hygiene of the eyes and ears to avoid infections. This coat can have the tendency to knot when kept longer so always check the coat through with a comb after brushing to catch any knots that may remain.
Professional Grooming: This coat, especially if kept longer, should be professionally groomed every 8 weeks with a bath in between for maintenance. Regular grooming visits ensure the coat is kept in it's ideal state.
