Caring for a Pomeranian

Maintenance: Brush a couple of times a week depening on the length and volume of the coat and bathe monthly.
Brushing: Pomeranians have a dense coat which requires proper brushing to prevent knotting. Brush at least once a week with the appropriate brush and comb.
Grooming: This breed is double coated anad should not be shaved, they also go through a natural coat change twice a year. It should be brushed and bathed to reduce shedding at home and tidied with scissors to maintain a good figure without compromising the length and volume.
Special Attention: Pay attention to protect the nose and paw pads from dryness to prevent cracked skin which can lead to wounds.
Recommended Grooming Appoitnments: Bathe once a month to maintain the shedding at home to a minimum; and to ensure the structure of the coatis proper.

1. BRUSHING

Pomeranians have a double coat and shed heavily twice a year.
It is advised to brush them weekly with a long-pin slicker and follow after with a comb to avoid tangles and minimise the shedding at home.
Using a conditioner spray will make brushing easier as it prevents hair pulling which reduces breakage and adds shine to the coat.
De-shedders and rakes with blades can help control the excess undercoat that can leave enough to protect the Pomeranian from the heat and cold.
