Horse’s hooves are concave, and dirt can collect in the indentation beneath, potentially causing damage. For this reason, a good horse’s hoof cleaner should have the following:

-Metal hook. This is used to scrape out the dirt and earth that accumulates in the hoof, making it easier to remove as much debris as possible. It is important to be vigilant when inserting the bristles.
-1.2-inch bristles. This is the ideal length to avoid injury. The bristles should be inserted into the dirt in order to remove it, but take care not to harm to the horse’s foot.
-Bamboo handle. Bamboo is a natural material that provides a very stable grip. In addition, the stiff bristles are attached firmly to the handle, and will not come loose.

How to use the Artero hoof cleaner for horses
The Artero hoof cleaner for horses should be used safely. As it has a metal hook, it must be handled with care. Instructions for use are the following:

-First of all, attach the horse safely in an area with no posts or walls, so that the horse will not be injured if it gets anxious.
-Start with the front limbs. Always stand to the side, never in front or behind the horse.
-Hold the hoof in one hand and the Hook F1 hoof cleaner in the other.
-Insert the hook carefully, avoiding sensitive areas.
-Slide the hard bristles from the back to the front of the hoof.
-Ensure that you clean the hoof in a well-lit area so that you can clearly see all the internal angles of the hoof.

Why is it so important to clean horses’ hooves?

Simply walking can be painful for horses if their hooves are not properly cared for. Mud, dried earth or stones can accumulate in the hooves, which is why they should be cleaned regularly. Ideally, the Hook F1 hoof cleaner should be used twice a day: in the morning and in the evening. This will prevent weakening of the hooves, which can eventually crack if left uncared for, and galloping would be too painful for the horse.

The best way to clean horses’ hooves is to use the Artero Hook F1 hoof cleaner.  Hoof hygiene, as well as monitoring the types of surface on which the horse walks, is essential, and should form part of the animal’s daily routine. A horse with hooves in good condition is a healthy horse.
